At Black Romance Book Fest, our mission extends far beyond festival weekend. Every initiative we lead is rooted in a simple belief: books have the power to educate, inspire, strengthen communities, and change lives.
Through literacy initiatives, educational partnerships, scholarships, and community programs, we’re expanding access to books while creating opportunities that support readers, students, families, educators, and communities throughout Metro Atlanta and beyond. Whether we’re placing books into the hands of young readers, investing in future leaders, or creating more inclusive reading experiences, every program reflects our commitment to making literature more accessible and impactful for everyone.
Our 2026-2027 Initiatives
Community Literacy Initiative
At Black Romance Book Fest, our mission extends far beyond festival weekend. Every initiative we lead is rooted in a simple belief: books have the power to educate, inspire, strengthen communities, and change lives. Through literacy initiatives, educational partnerships, scholarships, and community programs, we’re expanding access to books while creating opportunities that support readers, students, families, educators, and communities throughout Metro Atlanta and beyond. Whether we’re placing books into the hands of young readers, investing in future leaders, or creating more inclusive reading experiences, every program reflects our commitment to making literature more accessible and impactful for everyone.
Autism & Inclusive Literacy Initiative
Every child deserves the opportunity to experience the joy of reading in a way that meets their unique needs. Our Autism & Inclusive Literacy Initiative provides Sensory Storytime Kits featuring Black-authored books, sensory tools, communication resources, and engaging literacy activities designed to make reading more accessible for autistic children and children with sensory processing differences. Developed in partnership with therapists, educators, and community organizations, the initiative supports inclusive learning environments while helping families discover meaningful ways to connect through books.
Literary Champions Scholarship
Book Access & Community Giving
Books should never be a luxury.
Throughout the year, Black Romance Book Fest partners with childcare centers, nonprofits, and community organizations to donate books and educational resources that increase access to diverse stories. These partnerships help place books into the hands of readers of all ages while supporting educators, families, and organizations working to strengthen literacy within their communities.
Why Our Work Matters
Reading strengthens cognitive development, builds empathy, reduces stress, encourages lifelong learning, and creates meaningful opportunities for connection and personal growth.
For us, impact is measured by every reader who discovers a new favorite author, every student encouraged to pursue their education, every child who sees themselves reflected in a story, and every community strengthened through the power of books.

We envision a future where Black stories are celebrated without limitation, literacy is accessible to every community, and books continue to inspire learning, foster belonging, strengthen wellness, and create opportunity for generations to come. Through the transformative power of literature, we aspire to build a world where every reader can discover stories that reflect their experiences, broaden their perspectives, and remind them of what’s possible.
Growing Our Impact
Our work doesn’t begin or end with festival weekend. Through year-round literacy initiatives, scholarships, community partnerships, and our flagship event, we’re creating lasting opportunities for readers, authors, and communities to thrive.
